Hartmut Tappe

studied mechanical engineering at the Technical University of Brunswick, Germany, specializing in aeronautical and aerospace engineering, and conducted scientific work in the field of construction theory at the University of Bremen.
       Mr. Tappe practices as a German and European patent attorney, dealing with patent infringement proceedings, enforcement of patent and trademark protection rights and licensing. DR. THOMAS GRÜNBERG

studied crystallography at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, with stays abroad at Swansea, Wales and University of California, Berkeley, and completed his studies by writing a dissertation on surface physics at LMU.

Dr. Grünberg practices as a German and European patent attorney, dealing with the enforcement of patent and trademark rights, infringement proceedings and licensing. His major fields of activity include material science, mechanical engineering, process engineering, automation engineering and software-based inventions. Dr. Oliver Schneider

studied chemistry and biology at the University of Regensburg and conducted scientific work at the Institute of Organic Chemistry at the University of Regensburg. In addition, Dr. Schneider worked for the clinical department of AstraZeneca based in Hamburg.

He is particularly familiarized with patent matters relating to the fields of chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology, pharmaceutics, mechanics and mechanical engineering. His activities performed in these fields include the enforcement of patent and utility model rights, including opposition, cancellation and nullity proceedings as well as licensing. Moreover, Dr. Schneider has extensive experience in the fields of trademark and design law. He is a member of the Institute of Patent Attorneys before the European Patent Office (epi), of the Chamber of German Patent Attorneys and the International Federation of Intellectual Property Attorneys (FICPI).

Dr. Beate Binsack

studied chemistry at the Universities of Bonn and Cologne and conducted scientific research in the field of organic chemistry at the University of Cologne. She holds a doctorate in chemistry.

She is particularly familiarized with patent matters relating to the fields of organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, polymer chemistry, biochemistry and pharmaceutics. Her activities performed in these fields include the enforcement of patent, utility model and trademark protection rights, including opposition proceedings and licensing. Dr. Binsack is a member of the Institute of Professional Representatives before the European Patent Office (epi), the Chamber of German Patent Attorneys, the International Federation of Intellectual Property Attorneys (FICPI) and the German Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (GRUR).

Dr. Andreas Schuchert

studied electrical engineering, specializing in the field of communications engineering, at RWTH Aachen and received his doctorate in the field of digital communication.

During his research activity at Motorola Inc., he placed his focus on implementing digital transmission systems and was in charge of projecting telematics system concepts for the automotive industry. As an active member of various standardization bodies within the EBU (European Broadcasting Union), he played a large part in the introduction of the digital broadcast system DVB. Dr. Andreas Schuchert has been working as a German Patent and Trademark Attorney and is mainly involved in the prosecution, enforcement and defense of technical property rights n the field of electrical engineering. Dr. Andreas Schuchert is a member of the Chamber of German Patent Attorneys.

Peter Schubert

studied mechanical engineering at Central Hessian University of Applied Sciences with a special focus on precision mechanics.

In his capacity as a German and European patent attorney, he deals with patents in the fields of mechanical engineering, in particular automotive engineering, material technologies, production engineering, foundry technology, medical engineering, technical optics, chip technologies, in particular RF applications, and peripheral microprocessor technologies. Mr. Schubert is a member of the Chamber of German Patent Attorneys, the International Federation of Intellectual Property Attorneys (FICPI) and the Federal Association of German Patent Attorneys, the Institute of Professional Representatives before the European Patent Office (epi) and the Association of Intellectual Property Experts (VPP).

Dr. Christiane Katja Schwager

studied biology at Eberhard Karls University Tübingen and received her doctorate in the field of bioinformatics and genome research at the Center for Biotechnology at Bielefeld University, complemented by grant-aided research periods at the University of California, Berkeley. Furthermore, Dr. Schwager is author and co-author of several scientific publications.

Her area of expertise comprises the prosecution, enforcement and defense of industrial property rights, in particular in the field of biotechnological, medical engineering and technical engineering patents and utility models. Dr. Schwager is a member of the Institute of Professional Representatives before the European Patent Office (epi), the Chamber of German Patent Attorneys and the International Federation of Intellectual Property Attorneys (FICPI).

Bernhard Boniberger

studied mechanical engineering at the Technical University of Munich with a focus on automotive engineering, product development and production technology.

In addition to drafting and obtaining technical IP rights in application proceedings in the fields of semiconductor technology, optics, LED lighting systems, capsule-based beverage preparation systems, packaging and food technology as well as medical technology, Mr. Boniberger has extensive experience in defending and enforcing IP rights, in particular in opposition and appeal proceedings, as well as in cross-border infringement and nullity proceedings and the preparation of freedom-to-operate analyses. Mr. Boniberger is a member of the German Chamber of Patent Attorneys, the German Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (GRUR), the International Federation of Intellectual Property Attorneys (FICPI) and the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI).

Pascal Scherz (Of Counsel)

studied Energy Engineering at the Technical University of Stuttgart and Sustainable Energy Systems at Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg, Sweden. He also spent time abroad in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam and Bogotá, Colombia to broaden his linguistic and cultural horizons. Mr. Scherz is admitted as a German Patent Attorney and European Patent, Trademark and Design Attorney and deals with filing of patent, trademark and design rights, their legal enforcement, infringement proceedings, licensing and employee invention law matters. In addition, Mr. Scherz is active in consulting start-up projects with a focus on all kinds of intellectual property rights. His main fields of activity are energy and electrical engineering, power electronics, battery and fuel cell technology, mechanical engineering, automation technology and software-based inventions. He is a member of the Institute of Professional Representatives before the European Patent Office (EPI), the German Chamber of Patent Attorneys and the International Federation of Intellectual Property Attorneys (FICPI).

Dr. Markus Kafara

studied biological and environmental engineering at the University of Bayreuth, specializing in production technology and earning his PhD in the field of additive manufacturing. As part of his research and advisory function for the University of Bayreuth and the internationally active Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, he coordinated projects for implementing innovative production technologies in medium-sized businesses and corporations as the head of department in his area of expertise. Furthermore, Dr. Markus Kafara is the author and co-author of several scientific publications, in particular in the field of production technology and mechanical engineering. He practices as a German patent attorney, dealing with the prosecution, enforcement and defense of technical industrial property rights in the field of mechanical engineering, predominantly in manufacturing engineering, automotive engineering and lightweight engineering. Dr. Bastian Müller

studied physics at the University of Siegen. Following this, he worked as a research associate at the Theoretical Particle Physics department at the University of Siegen and earned his PhD in the field of Quark Flavour Physics. Within the scope of his research, he was the co-author of several scientific publications. He practices as a German patent attorney and European Patent Attorney, primarily dealing with the prosecution, enforcement and defense of technical industrial property rights, in particular in the field of physics and mechanical engineering. Johanna Willibald

Johanna Willibald studied mechanical engineering and industrial engineering (and management) at Technical University of Munich. Besides drafting and prosecuting technical property rights, in particular in the field of mechanical engineering, Ms. Willibald has gained experience in the protection and enforcement of property rights in adversary proceedings. Ms. Willibald was able to expand her knowledge regarding US American patenting rights during an internship at a US American patent law firm specialized in industrial property rights. Owing to her function as an in-house patent attorney at an automotive manufacturer, Ms. Willibald is also experienced in the field of inventor remuneration, licensing, and drafting development and cooperative agreements.

Ms. Willibald practices as a German and European patent attorney and a registered attorney before the unified patent court. She is a member of the Institute of Official Representatives before the European Patent Court, the Chamber of German Patent Attorneys and the Bavarian Patent Attorney Association.

Dr. Nina Maenz

studied law at the Ludwig Maximilians University of Munich and has been working as an attorney-at-law in the field of industrial property rights since 2001. The title of her doctor’s thesis awarded in the field of law is titled “Freihaltebedürfnis, Unterscheidungskraft und Schutzumfang dreidimensionaler Marken” [in English: “Competitive need, distinctiveness and scope of protection of three-dimensional trademarks”].

In her capacity as a “Certified IP Lawyer”, Dr. Maenz deals with national and international mandates in all matters of trademark and design protection. Dr. Maenz is also active in the fields of competitive law, trademark disputes as well as legal representation in all infringement proceedings relating to patents and utility models. Dr. Maenz is a member of the Chamber of Lawyers of Munich, the German Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (GRUR), the International Trademark Association (INTA) and the Association of Intellectual Property Experts (VPP).

Eugen Tuchscherer

studied law at the Moscow State Law Academy and at the Universities of Würzburg and Mainz.

Before joining advotec. he worked at several law firms based in Wiesbaden and Frankfurt am Main with a special focus on contract management and German and international civil law. Mr. Tuchscherer is a “Certified IP Lawyer” in the field of industrial property rights and is the co-author of various contributions to patent and contractual licensing law. His fields of activity include German and international trademark law, copyright, patent and competition law. He is a member of the Chamber of Lawyers of Frankfurt am Main, the German Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (GRUR) and the Association for German-Russian Business Law (VDRW).

Dorothée Oerter

studied law at Justus Liebig University Giessen with a particular focus on media law.

During her legal clerkship at the Regional Court of Giessen as well as after being admitted as an attorney-at-law in 2011, she worked for a law firm specialized in copyright law until switching to advotec. Patent- und Rechtsanwälte, European Patent, Trademark and Design Attorneys. She carries the title “Certified IP Lawyer”. The main focus of Ms. Oerter’s work is the extrajudicial and judicial enforcement of claims related to trademark, copyright and competitive law and providing professional advice to trademark applicants in Germany as well as on an international level. Dorothée Oerter is a member of the Chamber of Lawyers of Frankfurt am Main, the German Association of Attorneys (DAV) and of the German Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (GRUR).

Robert Mühlbauer

studied law at the University of Passau. Since the beginning of 2000 he has worked as an attorney-at-law.

His main areas of expertise are the extrajudicial and judicial prosecution and defense of intellectual property right infringements and unfair competition as well as the licensing of intellectual property rights. Furthermore Mr. Mühlbauer operates in the field of copyright law. He is a member of the Chamber of Lawyers of Nuremberg, the German Association of Attorneys (DAV), the German Association for Intellectual Property and Copyright Law (GRUR) as well as a member of the Intellectual Property and Media Working Group of the German Association of Attorneys (DAV). Petra Bosbach

studied law at the University of Cologne.

As an attorney-at-law specialized in industrial property rights, she operates particularly in the fields trademark, competition and media law. She is the author and co-author of regular legal publications on the topic of e-commerce. The extrajudicial and judicial enforcement of legal claims in trade mark and competition law and the assistance for applicants in trade mark law are the focus of her work. Ms. Bosbach is a member of the Chamber of Lawyers of Bamberg, the German Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (GRUR), the Association of Intellectual Property Experts (VPP), the Association of European Trade Mark Owners (MARQUES), the International Trademark Association (INTA) and the German Association of Attorneys (DAV).

Rainer Jung

Rainer Jung

attended the College of Technology in Siegen, from which he graduated as a state-certified technician in mechanical engineering with a focus on technology development, following his training as a technical draftsman.

During his studies and several years subsequent to his studies, he worked as a design engineer in a mechanical engineering company within an internationally established group of companies. Mr. Jung attends to patents in the fields of mechanical engineering, especially manufacturing technology, process technology, automotive technology, automation technology, drive technology, conveyor technology, environmental technology, storage technology, building service engineering, sanitary and water engineering and medical technology. Mr. Jung has also gathered experience in the field of trademarks and design patents.
